Stop the traffik

Founded in 2005 by Ruth Dearnley OBE, STOP THE TRAFFIK began as a groundbreaking campaign raising awareness of the global crimes of modern slavery and human trafficking. In 2008, we presented 1.5 million signatures to the United Nations, marking a turning point in global recognition of these crimes.
Since then, we have evolved into a world-leading organisation focused on prevention. Our vision is to create a world where people are not bought and sold.

Our work is intelligence-led, data-driven, and culturally informed. By analysing global trafficking data, we design programmes and campaigns that reach at-risk communities with lifesaving safety information, support businesses to reduce exploitation in their operations, and provide financial institutions and law enforcement with live intelligence to disrupt traffickers’ ability to move and profit from money.

This model is built around disrupting the three pillars on which trafficking depends: the recruitment of vulnerable people, the demand for exploited labour and services, and the movement of money through legitimate financial systems. Our delivery approach brings together stakeholders, shares data, generates insights, and enables action. Through this collaborative ecosystem, we seek to disrupt recruitment, money, and demand at scale.

Through this approach, STOP THE TRAFFIK creates a hostile environment for traffickers and builds resilient communities empowered to resist exploitation.
